Cricket 6s won by Manila IndiansMarch 19, 2011 | Share
The Cup final pitted the elite of Philippines Cricket against each other, with the Manila Indians against the Manila Diplomats team made up of expats associated with Embassies and international organisations based in Manila. After the Diplomats made a competitive score of 76, the Manila Indians batted steadily and with one ball to g, required 8 runs to win. This time the unfortunate bowler was Chris Lark. The Plate was dominated by the Nomads first Team who comfortably bested Baguio CC. The Shield (Wooden Spoon) was played between the Manila Roo’s and the Heckle and Jeckle lead by former international rugby player Jerry Echter. After posting a competitive score of 68 the Roo’s team, which included honorary Australian Rodney Hall, bowled exceptionally well and with one ball left the Heckle needed 8 runs to win. Up stepped Brad Hannam who until that point had bowled his best over of the tournament to bowl the last ball. Unfortunately for Brad, the ball slipped out of his hand a was signalled as a wide which (counts as 4 in Sixes), and then the last ball was hit for 6. – Iain Sinclair 0 Comments
